TP Link Power Bank 15600

Prior to going on our Semi Wild Adventure to Hafod Hall we decided we needed a power bank for our phones, even though the site itself has no signal, when we were on our walk we needed a phone encase of an emergency. It also turned out pretty handy when we were stuck inside the tent for hours when it decided not to stop raining!

This TP Link Power Bank is rated at 15600 mAh and has advanced battery technology using LG power cells which also help in colder weather as the battery life will not diminish as quickly, great if you prefer some wild camping in the mountain areas.
With the large capacity it is able to charge the following devices:

  • 8.2 charges for iPhone SE
  • 7.7 charges for iPhone 6s
  • 4.4 charges for Galaxy S7
  • 2.6 charges for iPad mini 4

I have a Sony Experia XZ and have charged it four times from empty to full and Pete has a Microsoft Lumia which he also charged 2 times from the fully charged power bank. I have found this to be enough for us on a four night camp, when we were at Hafod we used my phone for playing music and allowing little man to play some games on as he couldn't go out, this meant that we needed to charge the phone more than we anticipated.

This model comes with two charge ports, this is handy if you want to charge more than one phone or tablet at the same time. Because of the design the ports adjust for what is connected to them meaning that a larger battery device such as a tablet will receive a quicker charge, where as a phone will receive a steadier charge and wearable devices, like smart watches, will get minimal charge therefore this protects the batteries in all of the devices and is helpful in this technological age when families have all sorts of different devices they want to charge.

The middle port is for charging the device itself, in the box you will get a USB wire that you can either plug in to a USB port on a laptop or PC or you can plug this wire directly into a  USB mains plug. Once connected the lights on the power bank will start to show and you can see how much charge there is by pressing the power key on the side.

You will also receive a Lightning Connector for charging an iPod, iPhone, iPad, however I have not tested this as none of us have any Apple devices.

Charging the power bank takes approximately six hours from empty where as other power banks with the same capacity can take over 13 hours!!
You will be fully protected with this power bank from over charging, over voltage, short circuit, over current and over heating thanks to the technology within.

As an added feature there is also a small LED flash light, it is only small but would be useful in an emergency.

The price of this power bank is around £35.00 which is a fair price given the features that it has, the large capacity battery and dual output. So far we have used this on two camping trips and are impressed with how many times it can charge the phones.
It is such a great piece of kit to have and weighs only 340g so less than a tin of soup. It is one product that will be staying in our bags and will be used on each adventure that we have.

As a side note I asked Pete to proof read and ask if there if there was anything he would change, his response:

"I would delete all of the text and simply write it's a battery!"

Typical guy!!! :-)
